Add Pencilastic to your home screen
Choosing a stream is not a one-day decision. Most students and parents come back to these guides over several months — before the exams, after the results, and again when admissions open. Adding Pencilastic to your home screen means you do not have to search for it each time.
Looks like you already have it.
You are viewing this from the installed app, so there is nothing more to do.
It takes about ten seconds and does not install anything from an app store — your browser simply adds an icon that opens Pencilastic in its own window.
On Android
Your browser will often offer this to you on its own. If you see an install icon in the address bar, or a bar appearing at the bottom of the screen, just tap it.
If you do not see one:
- Open your browser's menu — usually ⋮ or ≡, at the top or bottom right.
- Look for Install app or Add to Home screen. The exact wording varies between Chrome, Samsung Internet and other browsers.
- Confirm. The Pencilastic icon appears alongside your other apps.
On iPhone and iPad
This must be done in Safari. Other browsers on iPhone cannot add apps to the home screen.
- Tap the Share button — the square with an arrow pointing up, in the toolbar.
- Scroll down the list of options. Add to Home Screen is below the row of apps, and it is easy to miss because you have to scroll past several items to reach it.
- Tap it, then tap Add in the top right.
Do not see "Add to Home Screen"?
Tap Edit Actions at the bottom of the share list and switch it on. It is hidden by default on some devices.
On a computer
- In Chrome or Edge, look for the install icon at the right-hand end of the address bar — a small screen with a downward arrow.
- Or open the browser menu and choose Install Pencilastic.
- Pencilastic opens in its own window and appears with your other applications.
Safari and Firefox on desktop do not support this. You can still bookmark the site as usual.
If you opened this from Instagram, Facebook or another app
Links tapped inside social apps open in a small built-in browser that cannot add anything to your home screen. To continue, open this page in your normal browser first:
- Tap the ⋯ or ⋮ menu in the corner of the screen.
- Choose Open in browser, Open in Chrome or Open in Safari.
- Then follow the steps for your device above.
What changes once it is added
- Pencilastic opens in its own window, without the browser address bar.
- On Android, holding down the icon gives you shortcuts straight to the articles or to your learning portal.
- Subscribers get to the Learning Portal login in one tap instead of navigating there.
It does not send you notifications.
